Who Am I?
I live in beautiful Chesterfield MO, which is a suburb of St. Louis, along with my boyfriend Randy, our three dogs (two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and one Westie), and occasionally Randy’s two college-aged sons. I’m a life-long resident of the St. Louis area and, yes I’ll say it, I went to high school at Parkway North (it’s a St. Louis thing).
I left St. Louis briefly to go to college in Columbia MO, M-I-Z!, but returned to finish my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at Lindenwood University. I worked full time and finished my degree at night. I’ve worked in Corporate America since before my college graduation; I started in Operations, moved into Marketing, then moved into Sales and Account Management in 1999 and never looked back. I love the freedom that Outside Sales gives me in terms of time and earning potential. I’ve been in the Telecom and IT industries all along and it’s been, at times, a pretty bumpy ride. Before the dot-com bubble burst, my co-workers and I all thought we’d retire wealthy by the age of 50. After the bubble burst, we all scrambled to get jobs at companies that weren’t filing for bankruptcy.
My Young Living Adventure
In the midst of all the turmoil, somewhere in 2003, I met a woman who was using Young Living therapeutic grade oils to promote and maintain her own wellness. This woman, Sue, held an informal class at her home about the oils where we learned the basics of oils and had a chance to sample many of the most popular oils. I was HOOKED! I LOVED the scent of these oils and, by the time I left her house, I felt like I was floating on air. I felt so divine. Truly elevated!! And I smelled like the richest spa I’d ever visited. I’ve been in love with YL oils ever since.
So, by 2005, I became a Young Living distributor and I also began practicing Usui Reiki (a form of energy that is channeled by the practitioner for the benefit of the recipient). Channeling energy takes practice and a commitment to open yourself up to more positive energy running through you. It sounds easy but it takes time and effort. I became a Reiki Master in 2006. I continued along a path of personal development and learning more about oils and energy work.
Here’s a list of the classes and workshops I’ve taken since 2003 in no particular order:
- Understanding Yourself and Others (UYO) – Global Relationship Centers
- Loving Yourself and Others (LYO) – Global Relationship Centers
- Inner Child Workshop – Pam Dunn
- The Mythology of God – Nikki Cobb
- The Beloved Course – Pam Dunn
- Vision Quest to Mt. Shasta, CA – Nikki Cobb
- Synergia (energy work) – Samantha St. Julian
- Energetic Awakening – Rev. Scott Beebe
- Discovery – LifePath Unlimited
- Breakthrough – LifePath Unlimited
- Destiny – LifePath Unlimited

- Emotional Release Technique – Young Living
- Ordained Minister – United Brotherhood Movement
I’m sure there are a few I’ve left out but this gives you an idea as to my level of commitment to myself. I believe that each individual is accountable for his or her own choices, actions, feelings, words, thoughts, beliefs, and energy field. I didn’t always understand this but I had my first course, in 2003, of Understanding Yourself and Others, and I had a profound epiphany that weekend. I realized that I could change my belief systems that no longer worked for me, I could change my feelings, I could release old patterns that no longer served me, and I could be the person I truly was at heart but that I’d covered up with a pretty face and a reactive, fearful, insecure shell. Wow, what a relief that weekend was for me!!!
I chose my company name somewhere way back in 2004 when I first started thinking about owning my own business. Ellevate represents the raising of vibrations that I enjoy so much and also the spelling “elle” represents the feminine aspect of love and compassion that surrounds all of my work and sets me apart from others (“elle” is a feminine pronoun in the French language). My Reiki strength is in balancing the heart chakra and the emotional bodies of my clients. I believe Love IS the answer and it makes sense then that my strengths would lie in working with those places where we aren’t as full of love and light as we would like.
So I have chosen oils and Reiki for now. I know there will be more personal growth and ellevated choices in my future. I’ve just been appointed to the Board of Directors of St. Louis Earth Day and I’m very excited about what that will bring to my experience. I value the earth and everything on it. I want to do whatever I can to help ellevate the vibration of the planet.
